Middle of Nowhere vibes, Middle of Everywhere fun—there’s loads to keep you busy just beyond our campsite.
Take a Walk
We’ve got plenty of walks right on our doorstep:
Just up the hill from the campsite lies Ashtead & Epsom Common. With over 100 miles of paths and bridleways to explore, this SSSI is packed with fascinating wildlife—and even hides the remains of a Roman villa!
Feeling adventurous? Start at the campsite, head across Ashtead Common, and keep going south. You’ll hit Epsom Downs, Headley Heath, Mickleham Downs, and plenty of other lovely spots along the way. Best of all, there are loads of great pubs en route, and the 465 bus can whisk you back to The Barn KT9 when you're ready to chill.
We’re also close to some beautiful National Trust sites. Box Hill offers well-marked trails with stunning views. Polesden Lacey boasts gorgeous gardens, a grand manor house to explore, and a fantastic playground. And Claremont Landscape Gardens features a scenic lake, a small play area, and a charming café.
Head Out on a Two-Wheeled Adventure
Bringing bikes? You’re in luck—we’ve got plenty of trails to explore.
For something local and family-friendly, Ashtead Common is a great shout. There’s a hard-packed bridleway around 75% of the perimeter, and the rest is usually dry and rideable in summer. Just across the road, Horton Country Park has several more kilometres of gravel tracks perfect for cycling.
On a road bike? Head south of the M25 into the Surrey Hills for some seriously fun riding.
Looking to go big? The world’s your oyster—you can even ride all the way to Brighton off-road from here!
Enjoy Some Pub Grub
There are plenty of great local pubs perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner—we’ll happily point you toward our favourites. (Pints, roasts, and beer gardens included.)
The Star & Shy Horse are both a 5-10 minute walk from the campsite and offer traditional pub menus with a decent range of beers. If you’re in the market for a couple of pints and a burger, these will sort you out. The Star has the added bonus of a play area for kids in the garden.
Over on the Epsom side, The Jolly Coopers do a mean roast and have their own microbrewery on site.
Further into town, The Rising Sun is our pick of the pubs.
Looking for something a little more special? Over in Claygate, The Swan Inn is a pub owned by the top Spanish Chef, Jose Pizarro, and they deliver top notch tapas and crisp pints of Estrella. Closer to home, The Victoria on Oxshott High Street is serving up Michelin level food in a pub setting, it’s not cheap but it is well worth it for a special occasion.
Keep the Kids Happy
Garsons Farm in Esher offers Pick Your Own fun—from strawberries and raspberries to carrots, potatoes, and even sunflowers.
RHS Wisley is a magical day out with stunning gardens, an epic playground, multiple cafés, a soft play, and often seasonal kids' activities.
If the weather turns, Little Peeps in Hook is a massive soft play with a café. You can also head to the Rainbow Centre in Epsom or Leatherhead Leisure Centre for indoor soft play and swimming.
Bocketts Farm and Hobbledown are two of the best farm parks in the country—packed with animals, huge soft plays, and brilliant outdoor zones. You could easily spend a full day at either.
Hampton Court Palace is a top-tier day out. Kids will love the Magic Garden—complete with water play, sand pits, slides, and more. Explore the palace itself or wander the gardens. They often run seasonal events like artisan markets, food stalls, and Easter egg hunts.
Enjoy the Campsite
Not looking to go far? No worries—there’s plenty to do on-site:
We’ve got a badminton net, giant Jenga, and cornhole for a bit of friendly competition.
Each pitch or bell tent comes with its own BBQ—perfect for cooking up a feast and soaking up the peace and quiet.
Our boutique gym hosts a range of classes, from high-energy circuit style classes to yoga and pilates. Want a private session for your group? Just drop us a message.
And, of course, our café is here for all your coffee needs (and then some).
