Whether on or off road, you will be spoilt for choice for places to cycle from the farm.
Road
Situated on the edge of the Surrey Hills, you're perfectly located to head south and explore the quiet and scenic roads of Surrey. Turning left out of the driveway, you can either use the road or the shared-use pavement to head towards the M25 roundabout a mile to the south.
Here you can either use the underpass by taking the path to the left of the roundabout which allows you to skip the roundabout (perfect if you have kids with you), or you can cross the roundabout yourself, taking the 3rd Exit towards Leatherhead. From here, it's all good.
If it's hills that you are after, there's plenty to choose from. Leith Hill, Staple Lane, Whitedown Lane, Barhatch, Crocknorth, Peaslake and Coldharbour Lane all being a decent test of the legs. There's also plenty of great bike friendly cafes and pubs to fuel you up mid-ride. The Dabbling Duck in Shere, Heartwork Coffee in Holmbury, The Milk Churn in Rudgwick (get the grilled cheese!) and G!ro in Esher are all highly recommended.
For flatter riding, you can head west towards Windsor or north to Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
Off-Road
You can ride from the farm to the south coast at Brighton without touching tarmac, if you're feeling energetic.
But chances are, you're after something more local, which also works just great.
Epsom Common is a great starting point, with the hard packed perimeter bridleway perfect to get out onto. From here, you can head to Horton Country Park for some more hard packed gravel, or over to Epsom Downs for some hills and views. Beyond Epsom you have Headley Heath and the North Downs, Denbies Vineyard, Norbury Park and Ranmore Common. All of these are absolute gravel and mountain bike heaven, with enough byways and bridleways to fill up dozens of days on the bike.
For something a little nearer to home, Esher Common and Oxshott Heath is also great for this kind of riding.
Charlie has a detailed blog all about the best places to ride off road in the area which you can read here.
We can also both plot routes for you to follow and even guide you on the ride itself if you would like.
