Being located in The Middle of Nowhere in the Middle of Everywhere means that there’s plenty of activities in the surrounding area that you can do to keep the kids entertained on their camping trip.
We speak from experience, our three year old, Olive, has tried and tested everything on this list!
Take a walk in nature
We have plenty of walks on our doorstep, but also have some beautiful National Trust sites not too far away. Box Hill has well-marked and maintained trails of various lengths with gorgeous views, Polesden Lacey has beautiful gardens to get lost in and a manor house to explore (and a great playground) and Claremont Landscape Gardens sports a picturesque lake, small playground and lovely Cafe.
Pick your dinner
Garson’s Farm in Esher gives you the opportunity to do something wholesome! Grab a basket and pick freshly grown strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, sunflowers, carrots, potatoes and other seasonal fruit and veg. The Cafe and shop are also great too if you’re looking to make a day of it.
Smell the flowers
Visit RHS Wisley and take a walk amongst beautiful trees and flowers. They also have an epic playground with a huge sandpit, multiple Cafes and a small soft play too. They often have seasonal children’s activities on to keep the kids entertained.
Jump into soft play
Ideal for a rainy day, Little Peeps in Hook has a vast soft play and Cafe, or you could head to the Rainbow Centre in Epsom or Leatherhead Leisure Centre and enjoy soft play and a swim session.
Score a hole in one
Horton Golf Club has a fun dinosaur themed adventure golf that is the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Visit the animals
Bocketts Farm and Hobbledown are two of the best farm parks in the country, you could easily spend a day at either. As well as animals galore, they both have big soft plays and outdoor play areas. Top tip: they offer discounted off-peak early evening slots.
Get a strike
Another one for a rainy day, dive into a game of tenpin bowling at Hollywood Bowl in Tolworth or Guildford Spectrum (also home to an ice rink and huge swimming pool).
Visit Henry VIII
Hampton Court Palace is a wonderful day out, they have a big play area called The Magic Garden which has water play, sand pits, slides and more. You can head into the palace itself or wander round the landscaped gardens. They often have seasonal activities on the agenda such as artisan fairs, food stalls, easter egg hunts and more.
Ride a roller coaster
Chessington World of Adventures is just down the road and has rides suitable for all ages and a zoo animal safari. Legoland is also a 45-60 minute drive away, visit their lego replica of different cities and landmarks or ride the iconic dragon roller coaster.
