Put your employee wellbeing first in 2025

Monday 20th January has been coined as ‘Blue Monday’, the most depressing day of the year. As we all trudge through our Christmas hangovers and return to work, mood can often drop, and feelings of anxiety around work, financial security and juggling the load can creep in.

Since the pandemic and a notable shift in the way we work, employees are seeking better work life balance and more mental health support from their employers.

Firstly, what is employee wellbeing?

Employee wellbeing is defined as “the overall mental, physical, emotional, and economic health of your employees.”

It’s influenced by many factors such as:

  • Their relationships with their co-workers and managers

  • Tools and resources they do or do not have access to

  • Hours, pay, and workplace safety

Here’s why we think you should focus on your employees’ wellbeing this year:

  1. Employees know what they want

If your company doesn’t offer it, they’ll go elsewhere. That means it’s more important than ever for employers to consider mental health and wellbeing to both retain their existing workforce and to attract new, excellent employees. Quite simply, a high pay check will no longer be their priority.

  1. Boost productivity with happy employees

A happy workforce is more likely to be productive, loyal, efficient, motivated which will all lead to better business output. When employees feel well, they typically perform better, Studies show that workers are 13% more productive when happy

  1. Reduce costs

If employees are happy and loyal, they’re less likely to leave your company, meaning you will save on recruitment and training costs. Absenteeism will also likely drop with fewer employees needing to take sick days in relation to burnout, stress and illness.

  1. Create a dream team

With a great wellbeing strategy in place you’ll attract and retain a great workforce. With lower stress levels you’ll cultivate a positive work environment, with fewer mistakes being made and culture feeling strong.

How to add employee wellbeing into your 2025 strategy

Let’s face it, a whip round on birthdays for a gift, card and cake, isn’t going to cut it anymore.

Here’s a few ways you can weave wellbeing into your business day to day:

  • Offer employees work from home days

  • Introduce flexi working hours

  • Champion work autonomy

  • Implement health and wellbeing schemes

  • Provide mental health support

  • Introduce walking meetings, get some fresh air!

  • Offer healthy snacks in the office

  • Purchase standing desks

  • Hold corporate wellness retreats

  • Corporate gym or PT memberships

Here at The Barn KT9 we believe that exercise and mind-body connection are the key ingredients for wellness. That’s why we designed our Corporate Wellness experience.
