The Little Barn Book

Updated: Mar 25

Whether you’re a first-time mum, experiencing your second pregnancy or postpartum period, headed into perimenopause or menopause, or struggling with your hormones - our life journeys can certainly present us with a lot of ups and downs.

ree

Over the years, we have tried and tested many women’s health support services in the local area. So, we thought we’d collate it into our very own Little Barn Book (our take on the Little Black Book!)

From physiotherapy, emotional support, massage, and nutrition to the best activewear and so much more, you can rest assured that you’ll be in safe and supportive hands with all our contacts. Please just say The Barn KT9 sent you.

Osteopathy & Physiotherapy

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all body systems by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework. Many women seek out osteopaths pre and postnatally to assist with symptoms, Laura and her team also offer cranial osteopathy for babies, and caesarean scar therapy.

Women’s/Pelvic Health Physio

Our bodies experience pretty big changes during the course of our life, and particularly during pregnancy and postnatally . It’s always good to get checked out by a physiotherapist. Prenatally a Physio can help to relieve pregnancy related symptoms such as pelvic girdle pain, carpal tunnel, back pain and more. Postnatally, a Mummy MOT is a fantastic way to get an assessment on your posture, pelvic floor and stomach muscles.

Education

Mothering a new baby, or a parent to older kids, or even a Grandparent? It’s our exhausting but wonderful job to keep them safe. A First Aid course can equip you with the tools and knowledge to help deal with different situations.

Mental health support

Looking after yourself physically is important, but don’t forget to take care of your mental health too. At The Barn KT9 we run group therapy sessions for new mums with Charlotte, they’re held monthly and are, quite literally, an amazing way to offload and to connect with other mums who are all experiencing similar things.

Here are some of the other mental health contacts who we would highly recommend:

Birth Support

Preparing for birth can feel a bit daunting. With lots of ‘stuff’ out there and many decisions to make, it can leave you feeling lost. In the words of Megan, ‘I will hold your virtual hand and take you from feeling totally out of control, small and anxious to feeling brave, confident and excited to birth your baby and take those tentative first few steps into parenthood.’
